Where has to time gone?

It is June as I type this. I didn't realize so long of time has passed since I posted. I am sorry. This year has been one of a challenge for my family. Various health issues seemed to have hint several of my family including me. 2012 is turning into a year I just wish would go away. I have had a few good time with my buds. I am grateful to have my special friends because without them I don't know where I would be.
Now that does not mean I have not done any knitting. I have been busy with my projects. I have been working on dishcloths again. The idea is I have pretty cotton yarn that deserves to be knitted and if I can make 2 or 3 a month then I have Christmas gifts for friends and family. This one and the next one are grandmas favorite but you slip stitches. I really like this pattern.
This next one is a mitered square. I like the stripe yarn for this pattern. I can see I will do more.
I also decided to do a scarf again. This yarn is a tweed yarn. I love the yarn but can tell ya it is a pain in the behind to knit with. I have 2 more skeins and I am thinking it will be a critter for someone.
Last but not least I have been doing socks. In looking at this post I have other socks done just didnt share. Oh well. This is a basic sock pattern. My go to pattern actually. The yarn is from a favorite website of mine. I have a thing about stripe yarns with socks. I so like how these turned out too. I have other colors and will be knitting more soon.
I guess that is it for now. There is 6 months left for this year and I am wondering what will happen. I am grateful for friends and family as well as my knitting to keep me sane.

2012 So far...

The first posting of the year. In this young year of 2012 I can say things are not great so far. I wont bore you with the details but at this point I want to go back to 2011. I do have a project to show that I finished it in time because things are getting colder around here and seems we are gonna get some snow too. This is my annual winter scarf. I dont know why but once the Christmas knitting is done I want to make a scarf for the cold months. This year was no exception. I had this pretty red swish tonal from knit picks and I had started a lace pattern but it had mistakes that I didnt like. So it got sent to the frog pond. What I ended up doing was a pattern called one row hand spun scarf. This is by the Yarn Harlot. This is my go to scarf pattern. I have made this scarf 6 times in various yarns and even given it away to people for Christmas gifts. No matter what yarn you throw at it or size of yarn it turns out great. Now on to my goals for 2012. I really don't have any goals for the year. If anything it is gonna be to finish some ufos or frog them. Maybe work on some more challenging projects. Anyway that is all for now. Hope everyone had a great holiday season. Now knit something today.

Holiday knitting

A few days before Thanksgiving as I type this and then before you know it Christmas will be here. Wow this year has gone by way too fast. I have been busy with looking for work and holiday knitting. I do have a job thank god and the hours are different so my holiday crafting has been limited. I have done a few things and I cant show you them either because these people who will get them will see this blog. I can show you something. This is Baldwin the Bathroom monster. This little guy is for my Dad. Trust me it does fit. The yarn is red heart in the colorway called mexicana. I think he turned out great. I am almost done with my holiday knitting too. :) Now if I could just get my other gifts done I would be all set.

Another Monster done

The weather seems to be getting cold way too fast. I have to wonder if the snow is gonna hit us fast. Oh well onto the knitting.  This was the week of another monster to be finished and instead of making a Christmas gift I made a Maddox for myself. I had made another one for a gift for a dear friend. Once I gave that little guy away it was the one monster I wanted for me. So I pulled out some yarn that I had bought to make a Maddox with and knitted a Maddox. The beauty of this critter was the body was knitted in about a day. The yarn is Sugar n Cream in the colorway called psychedelic. I love how he turned out and I know I will make more of him. I am thinking he could be made again for a few gifts. The next project I have started today is my first knitted blanket. I got the kit from Knit Picks and I thought with the weather getting cold it might be time to work on it. Picture is coming soon. Guess that is it. Make sure you take time to knit today.

Gift Knitting time

It is Labor Day as I type this. Wow what happen to summer. It seems like it was just the 4th of July. Next stop is Christmas right? Oh well My completed knitting projects are gifts for special people in my life. And yes I have started my Christmas knitting. I have a timetable to get things done and I just hope that I can get all done.
At any rate now on to the projects. The first one is a Dr Who dishcloth. This one and another one will be for a dear friend of mine for his birthday. Making stuff for guys can be a challenge so the dishcloth idea is one that I like because they are nerdy in nature. This is the Dr Who logo. The yarn is Knit picks dishie and while it does not look it in the picture, this yarn really shows the stitch definition. I am so liking this yarn. Knit Picks is super.
Now onto my next completed item. This is Jerry the Monkey another one by Danger Crafts. The yarn is from Dancing Dog Dye Works. I bought the yarn because I wanted to try it. And at one point I had thought I would keep it but with Christmas looming and other projects that need to be make this little guy is going to a cousin of mine. A 6 year old little boy is gonna get him. I am so sure he will like him. Only issues I had was the sewing him together. I may make something else too but for now I have officially started my Christmas knitting. This yarn is really nice to work with too and I do have some leftover. So maybe a little monkey for me. I guess that is it for now. Have a great Labor Day and start that Christmas knitting today.

Summer Spumoni socks

Well this summer seems to be flying by fast. Before you know it Labor Day will be here. WOW. This week I am on vacation so it is my time to work on projects and even finish a few. I had hoped I would start some more Christmas gift ideas but I haven't. Oops.
these are the socks from 2009
Now it is time to show off a pair of socks. This is my Spumoni stripe socks. The yarn is Paton's Stretch sock. I had done a pair before back in 2009. These socks are one of my favorite socks because they are so different and comfy. So I was in Michaels on a Sunday and saw this yarn. I thought I wanted it because the yarn was so new and cool looking. I am very happy with how they turned out and I do have some yarn leftover. I am not sure what I will do with the yarn. I might make a toy with it or something. Now on to the picture

Something totally different

When I first started knitting the dishcloth was my friend. Once I got into scarves and socks the dishcloth was left in the dust. This week I was on Ravelry and found a very cool dishcloth called hole-less. This is a mitered square without the holes. I liked the pattern so much that I did some stash diving and made it. I am really happy with it because it seems that the Sugar and Cream stripe yarns really do the dishcloth right. I am likely gonna do one again and will likely give them away for Christmas gifts. I know Christmas now? But my list is semi long with family and a few dear friends. Oh well at any rate here is the picture
